Installing a Movia eSIM on an iPhone takes about two minutes and only needs a Wi-Fi or data connection. You can install it as soon as you buy it — the plan won't start until you actually connect at your destination.
Step-by-step
- Open the confirmation email from Movia and find your eSIM QR code.
- On your iPhone, go to Settings → Cellular (or Mobile Service).
- Tap Add eSIM, then Use QR Code.
- Point the camera at the QR code and tap Continue.
- Label the plan (e.g. "Movia Japan") and finish setup.
Tip: Install on Wi-Fi before you leave home. Don't turn on Data Roaming until you land — that's what starts the plan.

Every iPhone from the iPhone XS / XR (2018) onward supports eSIM, as long as the device is carrier-unlocked. iPhone 14 and later sold in the US are eSIM-only.
